Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has been honoured with the Nigeria Excellence Award in Public Service for Sustainable Development and Community Empowerment, in recognition of his administrationโs ARISE Agenda and community-focused programmes.
The award, organised by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and the Private Sector Foundation Alliance, will be formally presented by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja.
According to the organisers, Eno was selected for his โnotable contributions to community upliftment,โ citing his strides in rural development, social welfare expansion, and empowerment for vulnerable groups.
Through the ARISE Agenda, his government has delivered compassionate homes for low-income families, supported thousands of small businesses with grants and equipment, and increased assistance for the elderly, persons with disabilities, and marginalized communities.
The recognition comes at a time when his administration faces both commendation for its grassroots interventions and criticism from media-rights groups regarding press-freedom concerns in the state.
Despite this, the government described the award as an encouragement to continue promoting policies that prioritise inclusive and people-centred development.
