Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, says President Bola Tinubu remains unshaken in the face of recent threats by US President Donald Trump.

Idris, addressing State House correspondents on Tuesday, said the Tinubu administration is engaging in proactive dialogue to correct misperceptions and reinforce national unity amid Trumpโ€™s comments.

He reaffirmed that Nigeriaโ€™s constitution guarantees freedom of worship, noting that the president is calm and focused on ensuring the international community fully understands Nigeriaโ€™s inclusive governance.

โ€œMr President is calm. Heโ€™s looking at the whole situation and exploring ways to ensure the international community understands what Nigeria has been doing,โ€ Idris said.

The minister added that the matter with the US has been thoroughly discussed, stressing that Nigeria cannot target citizens based on religion. He described extremist narratives as divisive attempts to destabilise the country.

โ€œNigeria has Muslims and Christians and even those who do not believe in any of these religions; and our constitution guarantees everyone should practice their faith without hindrance, and Mr President is going to respect that,โ€ he said.
