The state government has expressed concern after St. Maryโ€™s School reopened despite an earlier security directive that required all learning centres to seek clearance before resuming activities.

Officials said the school management failed to notify authorities before opening its gates to pupils, a move the government described as โ€œa breach of established safety protocols.โ€

According to the statement, the directive was part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security monitoring around schools and ensure that risk assessments are completed before academic activities resume.

The government added that while it prioritises uninterrupted learning for children, compliance with safety procedures remains compulsory to protect students, staff, and the surrounding community.

It noted that an investigation has been initiated to determine why the school proceeded without approval and whether any internal lapses contributed to the decision.

Parents were urged to remain calm, with authorities assuring that measures are being reinforced to prevent such occurrences and maintain safe school environments across the state.
