Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour (GRV), former Labour Party governorship candidate in Lagos, has called on the federal government to begin licensing firearms for citizens to defend themselves against terrorists.

Rhodes-Vivour, who recently defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), said the move has become necessary due to what he described as the governmentโ€™s inability to guarantee the safety of Nigerians.

He noted that insecurity has expanded beyond the northern region, citing recent abductions in Kwara and Ogun states as evidence of the growing threat.

According to him, citizens can no longer rely solely on state protection and must be empowered to safeguard their lives and property, especially in rural and vulnerable communities.
