First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has donated 10,000 sanitary pads to schoolgirls in Oyo State, a gesture aimed at supporting girlsโ hygiene and reducing challenges faced during their monthly cycles.
The donation was made through her Renewed Hope Initiative and distributed to selected schools across the state. The programme targets young girls, particularly those from low-income backgrounds, to ensure they donโt miss classes due to lack of menstrual products.
Representing the First Lady at the event, officials of the Renewed Hope Initiative said the intervention is part of a broader effort to promote girl-child education, health, and confidence. They noted that menstrual hygiene should never be a barrier to learning.
Mrs Tinubu reaffirmed her commitment to supporting young girls nationwide and encouraged stakeholders to prioritise female health and education. She added that similar donations would continue in other states as part of the national outreach.
School authorities and beneficiaries expressed appreciation, describing the gesture as timely and impactful, especially for students who struggle to afford basic hygiene supplies.
