The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to reconsider contesting the 2027 presidential election, saying his political influence has “drastically waned” since 2023.

The party made the statement on Sunday while reacting to Obi’s comments on the outcome of the Anambra governorship election, in which the APC’s Nicholas Ukachukwu performed strongly in several polling units, including Obi’s own.

APC’s Publicity Secretary in Lagos, Seye Oladejo, said the result showed that the “Obidient movement” had lost its momentum and could no longer sway electoral outcomes as before.

He urged Obi to “rethink his political aspirations” and instead support efforts to build a strong opposition within democratic norms.

Oladejo added that the performance of the Labour Party in the Anambra poll was “a reality check” and a signal that Nigerians were gradually moving beyond 2023 sentiments.
