The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged Labour Partyโs 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to reconsider contesting the 2027 presidential election, saying his political influence has โdrastically wanedโ since 2023.
The party made the statement on Sunday while reacting to Obiโs comments on the outcome of the Anambra governorship election, in which the APCโs Nicholas Ukachukwu performed strongly in several polling units, including Obiโs own.
APCโs Publicity Secretary in Lagos, Seye Oladejo, said the result showed that the โObidient movementโ had lost its momentum and could no longer sway electoral outcomes as before.
He urged Obi to โrethink his political aspirationsโ and instead support efforts to build a strong opposition within democratic norms.
Oladejo added that the performance of the Labour Party in the Anambra poll was โa reality checkโ and a signal that Nigerians were gradually moving beyond 2023 sentiments.
