The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has arraigned a senior officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Deputy Superintendent Sani Yakubu, before the Kaduna State High Court over allegations of criminal breach of trust and misappropriation of โฆ1.7 million.
In a statement on Friday, the ICPC spokesperson, Demola Bakare, said Yakubu was brought before Justice Isiaka of High Court 12 on November 4 for diverting โฆ1,720,000 belonging to one Mrs. Vennica Idokoโmoney he allegedly received on her behalf in his official capacity.
According to the charge sheet, the offences contravene Sections 294, 300, and 86 of the Penal Code Law of Kaduna State. Yakubu reportedly broke down in tears during the hearing and pleaded guilty to all three counts.
Justice Isiaka adjourned the case to November 12, 2025, for judgment and sentencing.
Reacting, Bakare reaffirmed the commissionโs commitment to holding public officers accountable, warning that abuse of office for personal gain would not go unpunished.
โThis case is a reminder that corruption, in whatever form or amount, undermines public confidence in government institutions and will not be tolerated,โ he said.
