𝐈𝐂𝐏𝐂 𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐬 𝐍𝐒𝐂𝐃𝐂 𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 ₦𝟏.𝟕𝐦

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has arraigned a senior officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Deputy Superintendent Sani Yakubu, before the Kaduna State High Court over allegations of criminal breach of trust and misappropriation of ₦1.7 million.

In a statement on Friday, the ICPC spokesperson, Demola Bakare, said Yakubu was brought before Justice Isiaka of High Court 12 on November 4 for diverting ₦1,720,000 belonging to one Mrs. Vennica Idoko—money he allegedly received on her behalf in his official capacity.

According to the charge sheet, the offences contravene Sections 294, 300, and 86 of the Penal Code Law of Kaduna State. Yakubu reportedly broke down in tears during the hearing and pleaded guilty to all three counts.

Justice Isiaka adjourned the case to November 12, 2025, for judgment and sentencing.

Reacting, Bakare reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to holding public officers accountable, warning that abuse of office for personal gain would not go unpunished.

“This case is a reminder that corruption, in whatever form or amount, undermines public confidence in government institutions and will not be tolerated,” he said.
