The immediate past Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Bola Oyebamiji, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the forthcoming Osun State election.
Oyebamiji emerged on Saturday through a consensus arrangement at the partyโs governorship primary held in Osogbo, the state capital.
His emergence followed a motion moved by two fellow aspirants, Kunle Adegoke (SAN) and former Senator Babajide Omoworare, who both called for the adoption of Oyebamiji as the partyโs flagbearer.
The motion was presented at the primary election venue located within the premises of Ebunoluwa Group of Schools, Osogbo.
Chairman of the APC governorship primary committee and Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, subjected the motion to a voice vote, which received overwhelming approval from party members present.
Following the affirmation, Okpebholo formally declared Oyebamiji as the partyโs candidate.
โBy the power conferred on me, I present to you Bola Oyebamiji as the governorship candidate of our great party,โ he announced.
The APC primary had earlier commenced with the arrival of the committee led by Okpebholo, who disclosed that the party had resolved that its candidate would emerge through affirmation, a position that was later upheld by consensus among the aspirants and delegates.
