Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has charged couples to build their marriages on love and togetherness, saying such unity strengthens families and ultimately contributes to national development.
Abiodun gave the advice on Saturday in Abeokuta during the wedding of Israel Lawal and Oluwatobiloba Achudume, daughter of Apostle Lawrence Achudume, Lead Pastor of Victory Life Bible Church International.
A statement from the churchโs media department said the governor was represented by Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbo Talabi, and his Chief of Staff, Oluwatoyin Taiwo. He commended the values of both families and urged the couple to follow the guidance of their spiritual leaders.
The event drew notable political and religious figures, including former President Olusegun Obasanjo, represented by his wife, Bola Obasanjo; ex-Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel; and former Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, who was also represented. Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, equally sent a representative.
Earlier, Presiding Bishop of Victory International, Ibadan, Taiwo Adelakun, urged couples to make prayer central to their homes, stressing that shared spiritual practice strengthens relationships and prepares marriages to withstand challenges. He encouraged couples to eat, play, work, worship, and raise their children together, noting that many homes struggle due to a lack of unity in daily living.
The brideโs father expressed confidence in his daughterโs readiness for marriage, saying her strong Christian foundation would guide her in her new role. The ceremony was also graced by several respected clergy, including Bishops Oludaisi Adekunle, Reuben Oke, Tom Samson, Felix Adejumo, Olubummi Banwo, and Rt. Rev. Dr. F. I. Omobude, represented by his wife.
