Yobe State has concluded arrangements to use the Muhammadu Buhari International Airport, Maiduguri, for the airlift of its pilgrims during the 2026 Hajj exercise.
The state government said the decision followed the completion of institutional engagements with key aviation and Hajj-related agencies to ensure full compliance with operational and safety requirements.
According to officials, consultations were held with the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, airline operators and other relevant stakeholders to guarantee a smooth and hitch-free operation.
The Yobe State Hajj Commission noted that the use of the Maiduguri airport would ease logistics, enhance coordination and reduce travel stress for intending pilgrims from the state.
The commission added that preparations for the 2026 Hajj are already underway, with emphasis on early planning, improved welfare for pilgrims and strict adherence to guidelines issued by Saudi Arabian authorities.
It assured intending pilgrims that further details on registration timelines, travel schedules and other arrangements would be communicated in due course.
