The Lagos State Police Command has announced a significant decline in major crimes across the state, attributing the improvement to intelligence-led policing strategies, stronger community partnerships, and sustained security operations.
Speaking during a media briefing in Lagos, the Commissioner of Police said the command recorded noticeable reductions in armed robbery, kidnapping, cult-related violence, and other serious offences in recent months. According to him, the police adopted proactive surveillance, data-driven deployment of officers, and collaboration with local stakeholders to strengthen crime prevention.
The CP explained that increased patrols in identified hotspots and rapid response to distress calls have helped deter criminal activities, while coordinated operations with other security agencies have disrupted several criminal networks. He noted that improved information-sharing between residents and the police played a major role in tracking suspects and preventing planned attacks.
He added that technology, including digital monitoring and intelligence analysis, has enhanced operational efficiency, allowing officers to respond more quickly to emerging threats. The police boss commended residents for supporting security initiatives and urged continued cooperation, stressing that public trust remains key to sustaining the progress recorded so far.
While acknowledging the improvements, the command warned that security challenges have not been completely eliminated. The CP assured Lagosians that efforts would continue to maintain vigilance, protect lives and property, and ensure that the state remains safe for residents, businesses, and visitors.
