Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has imposed a full 24-hour curfew on Lamurde Local Government Area after renewed communal unrest reportedly escalated on Monday.
The state government said the curfew became necessary to prevent further breakdown of law and order and to protect lives and property. Residents have been directed to remain indoors while security agencies move in to restore calm.
Fintiri described the latest violence as unfortunate and warned that his administration will not tolerate actions that threaten peace in any part of the state. He called on traditional rulers, community leaders and youths to cooperate with security personnel deployed to the area.
The government advised citizens to adhere strictly to the curfew, assuring that normalcy would be restored as soon as security assessments confirm stability in the affected communities.
