Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has approved the release of over N398 million to support the 2026 Ramadan feeding programme and Tafsir activities across the state, as part of efforts to ease the burden on vulnerable residents during the holy month.

According to a statement from the state government, the initiative is aimed at providing daily meals to thousands of fasting Muslims, especially low-income families, internally displaced persons, and other disadvantaged groups. The programme is also expected to support Islamic scholars and centres conducting Tafsir sessions throughout Ramadan.

Officials explained that the feeding exercise will be coordinated through local government authorities and community leaders to ensure fairness and transparency in distribution. The state government noted that the intervention aligns with its broader social welfare agenda, particularly during periods of economic hardship.

Governor Buni reiterated his administrationโ€™s commitment to supporting residents through targeted relief programmes, stressing that Ramadan is a period that calls for compassion, unity, and community support. He urged beneficiaries to use the opportunity to pray for peace, stability, and continued development in Yobe State and Nigeria at large.

The Ramadan feeding programme has become a yearly tradition in the state, with authorities saying it helps reduce hunger and promotes communal harmony during the fasting period.
