The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has approved a final 14-day grace period for property owners in Abuja who violated land use regulations to pay a ₦5 million penalty.

According to a statement by his aide, Lere Olayinka, the grace period will begin on Tuesday, November 11, following the expiration of the earlier 30-day window granted in September. The defaulters had converted residential properties to commercial use without approval.

The affected areas include Maitama, Asokoro, Wuse II, and Garki districts. Wike warned that failure to comply within the new deadline would attract enforcement actions by the FCT Administration.

He further approved the issuance of new title documents — including fresh Certificates of Occupancy — for compliant property owners, reflecting the updated land use for a renewed 99-year term.
