Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, will officially defect to the All Progressives Congress in January 2026, according to confirmation from the stateโs APC Chairman, who said the move had been postponed from an earlier date.
The chairman explained that the new timeline was agreed after consultations with party leaders and stakeholders at both state and national levels. He added that Governor Kefasโ entry into the APC is expected to strengthen the partyโs structure and expand its political influence in the state.
He noted that preparations are already underway for a formal reception ceremony, where national APC figures, state officials and supporters will gather to welcome the governor.
The defection, he said, reflects ongoing political realignments in the state and signals what the party believes will be a stronger showing ahead of future elections.
