The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged Labour Partyโ€™s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to reconsider contesting the 2027 presidential election, saying his political influence has โ€œdrastically wanedโ€ since 2023.

The party made the statement on Sunday while reacting to Obiโ€™s comments on the outcome of the Anambra governorship election, in which the APCโ€™s Nicholas Ukachukwu performed strongly in several polling units, including Obiโ€™s own.

APCโ€™s Publicity Secretary in Lagos, Seye Oladejo, said the result showed that the โ€œObidient movementโ€ had lost its momentum and could no longer sway electoral outcomes as before.

He urged Obi to โ€œrethink his political aspirationsโ€ and instead support efforts to build a strong opposition within democratic norms.

Oladejo added that the performance of the Labour Party in the Anambra poll was โ€œa reality checkโ€ and a signal that Nigerians were gradually moving beyond 2023 sentiments.
