Peter Obi, former presidential candidate, has described the Super Eaglesโ protest over unpaid allowances as โwhat is found in a now disgraced country,โ lamenting the state of national management and accountability.
On Tuesday, the Super Eagles players and officials boycotted their scheduled evening training session due to outstanding payments owed by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). The players have reportedly not received their allowances for qualifying for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and the 2026 World Cup playoff.
Obi said such neglect of national representatives reflects poor leadership and disregard for those who bring pride to the nation. He urged the government and NFF to resolve the matter swiftly to restore confidence in the system and morale among players.
