The Kebbi State Government has ordered the immediate closure of all public and private primary and secondary schools, as well as most tertiary institutions, following rising security concerns across the state.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the government directed school administrators to suspend academic activities indefinitely as a precautionary measure. Only the College of Nursing Sciences, Birnin Kebbi, was exempted from the shutdown directive.

Parents and guardians were urged to ensure that their children return home safely as authorities intensify efforts to monitor the security situation. The government added that the decision was taken in the best interest of students and staff amid increasing reports of threats in vulnerable communities.

Officials disclosed that security agencies have been deployed to sensitive areas while further assessments are ongoing. The state assured residents that normal academic activities would resume once the situation improves and safety is guaranteed.

The government appealed for calm and cooperation, stressing that protecting lives remains its top priority.
