The Presidency says Nigeriaโs swift response to the foiled coup attempt in Benin Republic reflects President Bola Tinubuโs commitment to safeguarding stability and constitutional order within the West African region.
According to the statement, Tinubu, who chairs ECOWAS, has continued to emphasise dialogue, diplomatic pressure and collective security as the best ways to prevent political disruptions across neighbouring countries. It added that Nigeriaโs contribution to the situation in Benin underscores the countryโs longstanding role in defending democratic governance in West Africa.
The Presidency noted that the aborted coup further highlights the importance of regional cooperation and early intervention, stressing that Nigeria will keep supporting efforts aimed at maintaining peace and stability across the sub-region.
